Interior and outdoor exhibition lighting, 2022 – under construction
Illumination of the permanent interior and outdoor exhibition, museum lighting. The Achilleion complex was originally built as a vacation residence for the Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary (princess Sissi) during the late 19th century. After her death, Emperor William II of Germany became the occupant of the palace. Today, the palace works as a museum. The interior and the exterior of the building are listed, including unique murals, ceiling frescoes, valuable furniture and sculptures. Achilleion is among the most visited and prominent museums in Greece.

The new exhibition develops in the main halls of the palace and aims to present the history of the building and its residences through time. The design of lighting aims to assist the legibility of the exhibition and enhance the key features of the building itself, whilst respecting the historical artworks and architectural features integrated in the building. The exhibition spreads in the extended imperial gardens and terraces of the palace, focusing on selected sculptures such as the ‘Dying Achilles” and the “Victorius Achilles”.
